New career opportunity in USA

Jamie has accepted a position at Synergy Badminton Club in San Francisco Bay, California as the Director of Youth Development & Coach. Beginning in early 2016, Jamie will work alongside coaches who have participated for USA in the Olympics & aim to boost the quality & outreach that Synergy can provide both it's current members & potential new juniors via schools. This is an exciting move which has arisen after two previous visits to the Bay Area, where hundreds of locals play at dozens of private clubs.

Thank you to the many exceptional people who have assisted Jamie in his career so far.

2015 Scottish Open Grand Prix Experience

Members of both Shuttle Stars & the Lanarkshire Academy enjoyed the Play Festivals & finals of the annual SOGP at Glasgow's Emirates Arena in November. They witnessed local hero Kirsty Gilmour compete & met Badminton Scotland's Patron HRH Prince Edward.  

California Training Camp, June 2015

In June 2015, Jamie & U19 Scottish talents, Alex Dunn & Toni Woods, visited Synergy Badminton Club in San Francisco Bay, USA. The juniors trained with local & international players under USA Hall of Famer Howard Bach, the 2005 World Men's Doubles Champion, with Jamie assisting & running local camps. U11 Scottish Nationals Victory 
JNB is delighted to announce Anthony McGuire as the new U11 Scottish National Boy's Singles Champion. Although still under 10, he won the title with very close 21-19 & 22-10 semi-final & final wins respectively, after 4 previous wins. Anthony has been immersed in badminton since starting less than 3 years ago and receives private tuition from Jamie & Keith Turnbull, plus now trains with Shuttle Stars, the Lanarkshire Badminton Academy & the Scottish Junior National Squad. Well done!! 
Both Jamie & Keith were delighted that over 10 players from Shuttle Stars & the Lanarkshire Badminton Academy took part in the event, with others reaching quarter-finals and winning the 'B' event girls' singles. A great success for all the kids.
Shuttle Stars Reaches 100 Members
After 8 months, Jamie's Shuttle Stars junior club has reached a milestone of 100 members. It's been an incredible first season for the club who offer badminton at the grassroots community stage, plus see some children compete from local to national level. Indeed, members have won titles at Hamilton District, Lanarkshire & Scottish Open events, plus attended the Scottish Open Grand Prix Festivals. Club venues are full but with 8 coaches now in the club, Jamie is hoping to expand into Carluke, Rutherglen, Larkhall & North Lanarkshire soon.
Scottish Junior Nationals Success
In April 2015, several players whom Jamie coaches tasted victory at the U13/ 17/ 21 Scottish Champs. Callum Smith (Borders) won the U13 treble of singles, doubles & mixed doubles, plus Toni Woods (Falkirk) won the U17 Ladies' Doubles title & came runner-up in singles. Finally, at U21 Alex Dunn won men's singles and shared a men's doubles victory with his brother Robert. Well done Bob! Special mention to Michael McGuire, who reached the semi-finals of U13 singles and doubles and has been progressing well since joining the Glasgow School of Sport in 2015.
Bill Neill Wins Prestigious Award
A proud moment for the Neill family involved Jamie's grandfather Bill being recognised for his lifetime of dedication to badminton. After decades spent playing regionally, coaching thousands of players & administrating on numerous committees, he received the 'SALSC and sportscotland Services to Sport' award at the annual Hamilton Sports Council Awards. Jamie was delighted to collect the award on Bill's behalf.
Alex Dunn Wins U19 European Bronze Medal
Congratulations to a long-serving player with Jamie; 16 year old Alex Dunn, who has won a bronze medal in men's doubles at the U19 European Champs in Poland with Adam Hall. Their partnership in 2015 has already saw them reach the Scottish Senior Semi-Finals, the Portuguese International Senior Semi-Finals, plus win the Glasgow Senior Open. This is a hugely proud moment for Alex & family, plus Jamie & fellow coach Keith Turnbull, and will inspire the youngsters in Lanarkshire to achieve their goals too.
Shuttle Stars Badminton Launches
On 1st September 2014 Jamie established a new junior club called Shuttle Stars, which focuses on world-class community badminton in Hamilton & it's surrounding areas. Some exciting developments are already taking place. For more info see Clubs & Squads.
Glasgow Youth International U13 & U15 2014
In may 2014, Jamie was given 2 fantastic developmental opportunities at the 2nd Annual Glasgow Youth U13 & 15 Champs: He sparred with a group from Qatar, including the newly crowned Under 13 US Champion Don Averia, plus coached Team Forza from Milton Keynes to victory in the Under 15 Team Event.
